Great Green Wall

Environmental sustainability is a major focus at Curious PR, thanks in part to our Founder's academic background in the field, and an enduring interest in the subject amongst our wider team. As such, we were proud to communicate about The Great Green Wall initiative on behalf of the UNCCD (United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification).

This audacious African-led project is planting 8,000km of vegetation right across the continent to prevent desertification, and provide life and livelihoods – including creation of 10m jobs by 2030. A ‘wall that unites’, the Great Green Wall is one of the most inspirational and urgent movements of our time. The wall is currently around 15% complete, and once it is fully planted, it will be visible from space – the largest man made structure in history!

We generated much needed press and global attention for the initiative, including social media management and website creation. We also helped to publicise highly impactful film, The Great Green Wall, which has won over 11 international awards. The film involves Academy Award nominee, Fernando Meirelles, (City of God and The Constant Gardener) and Malian musician, Inna Modja, who takes the viewer on an epic journey to the front line of climate crisis along Africa's Sahel. It is a must-see for anyone wishing to see how climate crisis is impacting all of our lives on this precious planet.
